Chapel Falls

Chapel Falls

Chapel FallsBeautiful Chapel Falls is found on the hike out to Chapel Rock in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.  This falls is located about 2 miles from the parking lot, so make sure you are up to the hike before setting out.  It is a gorgeous slide that is best viewed in the spring when Chapel Falls is full of water.  During the summer months the water levels drop severely and the falls are less impressive.

The hike to reach Chapel Falls is very picturesque and you will see a great variety of plant life.  The hike follows the along the gorge for much of its length also providing beautiful views.  The trail crosses the creek above the falls and circles around it to a viewing platform where you will have the best view.  Some of the views can be obscured by trees however, so finding the correct angle of Chapel Falls is important.

To reach Chapel Falls you need to head east out of Munising on Hwy H-58 for approximately 15 miles.  There will be a dirt road heading off to the north past the small town of Melstrand.  There should be a sign marking it as the road you are looking for.  This dirt road is pretty long and fairly bumpy, so take your time and enjoy the beautiful scenery.  You will eventually arrive at the parking lot and your adventure can begin.

Pets are prohibited on all trails in the Chapel area.
