Gabbro Falls
You will find Gabbro Falls on the Black River near Bessemer, Michigan. The falls are located near Blackjack Ski Resort. Gabbro Falls is not as well known as the other Black River Scenic waterfalls, but it is just as beautiful. The falls consists of three separate drops that fall approximately 40 feet total. The rock ledges that the falls drop over give Gabbro Falls its unique name. The waterfall is relatively easy to access but provides a wild, unadulterated experience.
To reach Gabbro Falls, take Blackjack Rd north from US Hwy 2 between Bessemer and Wakefield, Michigan. Follow the road until you reach Blackjack Ski Resort. The road will turn 180 degrees and start up a steep hill. Once you reach the top of the hill, you will find parking across from some old run down buildings. You can hike to either the top of the falls or the base of the falls from this point. The map below should help you find Gabbro Falls:
