Located off Hwy H-58, Munising Falls is a great spot to visit when you are in the Pictured Rocks area. You can reach the falls by parking off Sand Point Rd., crossing H-58 and following the signs up the trail. This is a beautiful waterfall that you can see from many different angles. Two sets of stairs lead to platforms to view the 50 foot waterfall as it drops over a sandstone cliff.
In the winter Munising Falls freezes and forms a column of ice that reaches all the way to the ground. Ice climbers are not allowed on the column itself, however there are many ice curtains and other waterfalls in the area that can be scaled by the adventurous. Munising is a very popular destination among the ice climbing crowd. The ice formations are very interesting even if you do not climb them.
Pets are permitted on the trail to Munising Falls. The city asks that you stay on the paved trail leading up to the falls. There are benches or sitting areas along the path if you want to slow down and enjoy the calm, peaceful valley. Since the parking lot is within the city limits, a Recreation Passport is not required to access Munising Falls.
